The Smokeless Tobacco Set Up

Posted on | October 12, 2006 | Comments Off on The Smokeless Tobacco Set Up

If you watched this week’s Health Politics program, you know that smokeless tobacco companies and traditional tobacco companies are introducing new products that are likely to attract more and younger users. They’re taking the “spit factor” out in hopes of making the process cleaner and more socially preferable.

Who cares?! Cleanliness and manners are not what’s important here. Smokeless tobacco — also known as chewing tobacco and snuff — is dangerous and addictive. It can cause cancer. And cancer can kill you. If you don’t believe me, read this story about former baseball player Rick Bender. He’s now known as “the man without a face.”

Smokeless tobacco should not be a part of your life (or you loved ones lives) no matter what. That’s the bottom line. Do you know users? I’ve heard and read that some people are switching to smokeless tobacco to help them stop smoking. Is this true? It’s a really bad idea. Please join me in a discussion — post your comments below.
