2010 World Stem Cell Summit

Posted on | September 24, 2010 | 1 Comment

The 2010 World Stem Cell Summit (October 4-6 in Detroit) will provide critical networking opportunities, insights and resources as stem cell research faces an uncertain future.

Though a recent court ruling lifted the August injunction on federal ly-funded embryonic stem cell research, the future of th is promising field remains unclear. Research!America and many other organizations have called on Congress to make President Barack Obama’s guidelines permanent, even as the judicial process continues to play out. An August poll commissioned by Research!America shows that fully 70% of Americans favor increas ed federal funding for embryonic stem cell research.

The 2010 World Stem Cell Summit program will also feature 150 speakers from across the globe — including Research!America President and CEO Mary Woolley — and 50 hours of panels for researchers, industry leaders and ethical and societal leaders. The Summit is designed to cover the field’s most pressing topics including the pressing advocacy agenda, progressive research strategies, translational and preclinical findings, cross disciplinary initiatives, drug discovery and much more.
